Types of Online Bingo Games

There are literally hundreds of different online bingo games available online, however most will fall into one of the following categories. The types of online bingo games do not relate specifically to the patterns on the card, which can vary between online bingo rooms.

5 in a row

5 in a row is the most traditional form of bingo and simply relates to the 5 letters which spell out the word – BINGO. In 5 in a row games the letters can be arranged horizontally, vertically or diagonally, with the first player to call out ‘bingo’ being declared the winner.

Progressive Bingo

In progressive bingo, the jackpot grows over a series of games until it is won. In land-based games this may be over a week or even month, while in online casinos, the progressive jackpot will generally be calculated over a shorter period. There is often an additional buy-in charge for progressive bingo games.

Speed Bingo

This is a variation on the traditional bingo game where the numbers are called very quickly. In speed bingo you can also win with as few as three numbers.

Blackout

With blackout bingo, you must cover every square on the card to win. Blackout bingo is also knows as ‘coverall bingo.’

Texas Blackout

This is a variation on the traditional blackout game where the first number called will be either odd or even. If the number is odd, then you must cover all the odd numbers. If an even number is called then cover all the remaining evens. The game then continues as per a traditional blackout game where all squares must be covered in order to win.
